Devon grinned slightly as a light flush colored Kai's cheeks. Well, wasn't that an interesting reaction. He wondered what specifically had earned that blush. He made a mental note to make a similar comment later or use that tone. For now, he left it alone and focused on the conversation itself.
Torment? Nah. I may be a demon, but I don't torment people ... yet, He said, waving the thought off. He might poke a little fun at her from time to time but he wouldn't be scaring her at all times whenever he saw her in the halls. That would get boring and annoying even for him. His mean streak demanded a certain style for him to scare or otherwise pick on people. A random scare like today was not an occurrence he would bother with often.
Hopefully knowing that he wasn't going to constantly try to scare her would make her feel a little better. It might help take the edge out of her voice. He raised his hands and shrugged. Its possible. No one's ever said whether or not something was out here. They never answered that particular question, He retorted, defending himself. How could he properly give such an answer when no one said what could hurt them. They just said "stay out."
Sadly for the staff that this was one of the only surefire places for quiet. The school grounds had nearly nowhere to hide from others. So why did Kai come out here if she didn't like silence? He didn't believe that a person would just come out here chasing a rabbit. He gave her a considering look, trying to think of a reason why someone else would be out here if not to be alone in the quiet.
Her question made her seem just a little more odd. Devon stared for a moment and then looked away. There wasn't any silence which is why I had to seek it out in the first place. He shifted a little, unsure how to feel about what seemed a clear view on noise.
If you don't like silence, why come all the way out here chasing a rabbit? It was pure coincidence that I happened to be out here and in this exact area. A good coincidence on her part given that she could have wandered too far into the woods and lost herself. It was a good thing that he happened to be here to keep her within general safety of the school grounds.

S HE JUST MIGHT » "That's reassuring. "Kai wasn't pleased by her relieved tone at this new information. Could she be more obvious? Anyway, it didn't quite fit with her impression of boys at her present age (most would be delighted to be pests) but she didn't feel much like arguing this point. To his defense about the monster, Kai just nodded. She really didn't want to talk about it. Maybe if they stopped now, she wouldn't be as scared. As it stood it was hard to think about anything else. " Oh,"Kai acknowledged, her tone soft. It was ridiculous, though. No silence? Implausible. For Kai there was always too much for her comfort. No, it wasn't a constant sort of thing, but those moments where silence set in were too numerous for her comfort. She wasn't going to argue. " I didn't come out here chasing a rabbit. It was a bunny- there is a difference ... Bunnies are cuter. And it just happened to be here."Kai informed him, not seeming to think this was a nearly irrelevant point in context of his question. The minor interjection gave her the time to think about her answer; she hadn't given it much thought when she approached the forest or when she'd needed an excuse (the bunny) to enter the forest. " I guess... "Kai glanced down at the hem of her skirt, her fingers going to trace it's seam as she spoke." I guess I came out here looking to get a little lost. I mean, when I get lost in the building, it's fine. Kids will point me in the right direction. I'm sure I'll figure it out after a while. But out here... It's not just endless doors and walls that all look the same." Kai looked up at him, feeling a bit silly to be making the point that she kept getting lost, so she wanted to get lost. " Out here, not knowing your way's sort of an adventure. You can see things- like little creatures and unique birds... You can see things a city robs from us."Kai murmured. Why did that feel so personal? Whatever the reason, Kai was now anxious to get up. So that's precisely what she did- rising up to stand on top of the log, she turned her back to him and began balancing again, walking away from him. " Anyway. I'm successfully lost. Mission accomplished. I can officially check this off my list."Kai added casually. Not that it was true- she still wanted to be out here among the little furry creatures, where every sound could be considered music, and her surroundings easily turned into art. This sure beat the Grace Academy building by a long shot. ✘kai [/blockquote] « GET YOU LOST ![/blockquote]
